Joslyn Pretz

Joslyn is the primary trainer for Premium Sport Horses. Originally from Louisville, KY, Joslyn has ridden for over twenty years and has been starting horses and ponies since 1996. Her experience includes eventing through preliminary, dressage through second level, showing in the hunter and jumper circuits, fox hunting, exercising racehorses, endurance riding and starting many young horses and ponies. Although she enjoys working with and showing advanced mounts, Joslyn currently focuses on correctly starting young horses and ponies on the ground and under saddle, giving each horse a strong foundation for future success. She believes that gentle, firm and repetitive training techniques achieve the best results.

Horses and ponies trained by Joslyn have a good foundation in the basics and are willing, calm and safe. She also has an eye for conformation and movement and only purchases prospects who have the ability and attitude to succeed in the sport horse disciplines.

In addition to starting and training horses and ponies around Santa Fe, NM, Joslyn also offers for sale a select group of horses owned by herself and others. Her small stature allows her to work with mounts as small as 11.0 hands.
John Pretz

John helps with ground training and general horse care, and he enjoys an occasional trail ride. He is the primary photographer and videographer for Premium Sport Horses and he grooms for Joslyn at shows.

Born in Leavenworth, Kansas, John spent much of his childhood outdoors. He is an Eagle Scout and worked for nine years at Theodore Naish Scout Reservation in Bonner Springs, Kansas. John got his Ph.D. in particle astrophysics from the University of Maryland in 2006 and he currently studies gamma ray astronomy at Los Alamos National Lab. In his free time he enjoys sculpting, computer programming and playing board games.

Magruder Pie "Maggie" and Annabelle

Maggie and Annabelle are the wonderful mutts who teach the horses not to spook around dogs. They love playing in the ring and tagging along for trail rides. In their free time they enjoy eating, sleeping, chasing geese out of the fields, and rolling in stinky rotting stuff.
